Magic Island. This is how the city likes to be called. And the city deserves it. So many and varied are the options that nature and the creativity of its inhabitants granted to Florianópolis, that when the visitor arrives in the Island of Santa Catarina, he feels like he’s been transported to an enchanted land.

There are over 30 beaches, each one with a specific profile. Calm waters in the bays, cool beach break waves for surf beginners, high waves for experienced ones, and full and strong for the most experienced, and even sand waves for sandboarding. Crowded beaches, full of people, or the “peace of mind” kind, almost deserted ones. And also for diving, boat rides, trekking, cycling and lots of entertainment.

On the cultural side, the fortresses that protected the island from invasions from the colonial era, the historical museums, art museums and places such as Santo Antônio de Lisboa and Ribeirão da Ilha, which keep ancient Azorean traditions and still keep a feeling of good old times.

This is just the beginning. There is a lot to admire on this magical island, surrounded by a sea of turquoise.
