Ancient or modern, Recife has a lot to offer in terms of culture and leisure. The Marco Zero – where the city was founded –, the Rua do Bom Jesus, the Paço da Alfândega, the Kahal Zur Israel Synagogue, the Malakoff Tower – the first astronomic observatory in South America –, the forts of Brum and of Cinco Pontas, the Praça da República – together with the Teatro de Santa Isabel, the Palácio do Campo das Princesas, the Palácio da Justiça and the Liceu de Pernambuco –, the Convento e Igreja de Santo Antônio – that includes the Capela Dourada and the Museu Franciscano de Arte Sacra –, the houses at Rua Aurora, the Casa da Cultura and the Oficina de Cerâmica Francisco Brennand are some of the examples of what you may find in Recife.

In the evenings, happy hour by the sea and, later, dancing. Quaint pubs, like the UK or the Downtown, play rock and electronic music, or very authentic places, to dance forró closely embraced, such as Sala do Reboco. And for those that would rather listen to jazz there is the Casa da Moeda, with high-class jazz and chorinho.

Enjoy Recife!
